Walnut welcome Jordan to the team…

Here at Walnut Creative, things are on the move and we’re pleased to announce that we have a new team member… meet Jordan Gilroy.

Brother to our Marketing Manager, Liam, and graphic design whizz, Jordan has joined with an abundance of experience and skill under his belt, with a past working at local design agencies. 

Jordan, who studied Graphic Design at Lincoln University, joins the Walnut ranks due to the extra support we require in design and brings with him a set of specialists design skills that we can now offer our clients.

Is it time to review your web presence?

Walnut Creative onside with charity football fundraiser…

Our very own Glen Crossland has signed up to take part in the special Foodservice Charity Football Match which is fundraising for the families of the Manchester attack victims. 

The match has been organised by Marc Sumner and the team at H2O Publishing, to gather together this in the foodservice industry to lend a helping hand to those affected by the tragic attack last month. 

Kicking off at 7.30pm at the Squires Gate Football Club in Blackpool next Wednesday, the match already has 28 registered players from across the industry – but Marc is hoping to get this up to 36. 

Each player will be donating £25 and funds are also being raised through an online Just Giving page which automatically enters those donating into a raffle to win some fantastic prizes including signed Ricky Hatton boxing gloves, an Apple Watch, cocktail hamper and much more. 

Walnut’s marketing manager Liam is also doing his bit and stepping up as videographer of the event and will be heading to Blackpool with Glen to catch the players in action. 

“Walnut Creative are extremely happy to be part of this fantastic event, we are all totally behind the fundraiser after the devastating attacks in Manchester, and will be donating £50,” said Glen.

“I think it’s fantastic that the foodservice industry can come together like this and show their support for such a worthy cause. 

“We urge everyone to dig deep for this fantastic cause and head to the Just Giving page to donate by clicking here.”

Walnut on tour!

The Walnut Creative team have been down to Birmingham last week to visit the Commercial Kitchen Show.

The team have had a fantastic couple of days catching up with clients and industry friends who were all there to make the most of the specialist exhibition at the NEC.

We made our way down to show on Monday morning to lend a helping hand to some of our clients who were exhibiting at the show and in the process of setting up their stands and getting organised.

The two-day show saw the best and brightest in the catering industry come together to showcase their products and services, it was great to see so many fantastic firms showing off what they can do.

Snapchat for foodservice marketing?

Social media is an ever changing trend, from MySpace to Twitter and now more recently Snapchat, the social media app for sharing your photos. 

Snapchat was released back in 2011 and since then has created a frenzy of youngsters looking to take photos and videos to share them with their friends, with three billion snaps being sent around the world every day. 

In the next few years, Snapchat’s popularity grew massively, even more so when it introduced the Snapchat Stories feature, which allows you to create a 24-hour feed of pictures and videos, and has been imitated by the likes of Instagram and Facebook in a bid to follow the craze for live content sharing.

Catch up with us at the Commercial Kitchen Show?

We’re really pleased to be in attendance at this years Commercial Kitchen Show which will take place at the Birmingham NEC  June 6th-7th.  The Commercial  Kitchen Show (CKS) is an industry event and the perfect setting to meet up with the people of our industry and a fantastic opportunity to network and learn more about the products and businesses that make the UK foodservice equipment market great.

Walnut Creative Ltd are extremely excited to have no less than 4 manufacturer clients exhibiting at the show, meaning we’ll be at the show throughout the build up and breakdown and everything in-between. We have a number of meetings booked in on the 6th and 7th catching up with new and existing clients, however we have lot’s of availably to present our offering to any potential clients interested in the services we offer as a business or anyone that wants to learn a little more about us. We’d love to grab a coffee with you and exchange a business card. Don’t worry, we don’t do the hard sell!

Marketing Manager Liam Gilroy and Director Glen Crossland will be representing the company at CKS and will no doubt be spotted waltzing through the isles with their cameras. Walnut Creative Welcome Matt King

The team at Walnut Creative are delighted to announce that yet another team member will be joining the ranks.

Matthew King will be joining our agency as Social Media Coordinator and will bring with him a wealth of skills and experience.

Matt studied Photography at Sheffield Hallam University, meaning Walnut Creative can offer even more photography work than before, thanks to Matt’s top class skills.

But that’s not all Matt will be doing. He’ll also be learning the social media ropes, allowing him to oversee the management of all our client’s social media platforms.

Since his start date, Matt has dove straight into the foodservice and catering industry, making it his mission to educate himself on the ins and outs of all of our clients.

“Not only will Matt be working on social media for Walnut Creative, but he’s also an excellent photographer,” said Glen Crossland, director at Walnut Creative. 

“This means that he’s bringing a wide variety of skills to the table and we can’t wait to see how his skills progress, allowing the team as a whole to progress at the same time.”

Mingling with the stars at the Claire Clark Academy grand opening

The team at Walnut Creative were delighted to attend the opening of The Claire Clark Academy in Milton Keynes last night.

Glen and Liam headed down to the newly-formed academy based at Milton Keynes College on May 18th, where they took photos and filmed videos on behalf of Induced Energy, who supplied the mobile induction units for academy’s newly designed facilities.

The Claire Clark Academy was formed by BBC’s Bake-Off Crème de la Crème judge, Claire Clark, in partnership with Milton Keynes College to offer a range of unique Patisserie courses for at home bakers to those seeking a career as a pastry chef, Patisserie chef or baker. Read more

Walnut Creative Welcome Laura Rowley

Walnut Creative are extremely excited to welcome Laura Rowley to the team as our Content Marketing Coordinator.

Coming from a journalistic background, Laura studied Journalism at Sheffield Hallam University before going on to work at a local newspaper, where she learned the skills she needed to take on this new role at Walnut Creative and make a jump into the marketing and PR world.

Laura will be responsible for all editorial content and is currently tasked with managing PR and creative writing for all of our clients, whether it’s blog posts, brochures, case studies or press releases.

Walnut Creative’s director, Glen Crossland, said: “We are thrilled to have Laura on board, she brings with her a vast amount of journalism experience and expertise, making her a fine addition to our team.

See You at the Cost Sector Catering Awards!

The Cost Sector Catering Awards are one of the foodservice and catering industry’s biggest events of the year. The prestigious event sees the celebration of achievements made across the industry and highlights outstanding contributions as voted for by peers within the foodservice sector. If history is anything to go by the black tie event is set to be a night to remember full of great food, great entertainment, great company and a very busy bar.

We’re happy to let you all know that Walnut Creative Director Glen Crossland and Marketing Manager Liam Gilroy will be attending the event to take part in the celebration of some of the industry’s best talent.
